Think Outside The Box

Search engine marketing is all about thinking outside the box and trying to be creative to pull eyes in your direction. Depending on how busy you industry is it can be tough to get new qualified eyeballs viewing your business in the online space.
Here are some ways you can think outside the box when it comes to marketing your business online.
1. Onsite SEO: Don’t pull all your focus on just a few high search volume keywords for you entire website. This is a sure fire way to cut your efforts short when it comes to inbound traffic. Target the high and the low search volume keywords and you will ensure a nice steady stream of inbound traffic flowing to your web pages.
2. Link Building: Wear your marketing hat when you create links for your website. Good strong marketing and branding will help you build much better quality links pointing to your website. Jamming links into directories and trying to manipulate search results is not going to help you in any way when it comes to marketing your website. If you are writing a press release try to wait until you have something really newsworthy to say, if you are writing an article step into the shoes of an expert and position yourself like you lead the industry.
3. Social Media: I have said this before and I will say it again, personality. Social media is all about the community so make an effort to show personality and spread the wealth. Don’t be scared to share other links from other blogs and sources. The social space is all about being social and not just focused around yourself. If you want the community to join you it is important to join them first.
4. Promotions: There is no better way to generate some nice natural links and heaps of traffic than giving something away for free. From time to time if you want to grow you are going to have to dangle a carrot to get people’s attention, especially if you are in a very competitive marketing this will be very important. If you do it right it could very well put your business right on the map with everyone else you are trying to compete with. Bloggers love to see free giveaways because it usually creates great content to write about.
When marketing any business online try not to walk down the beaten path too much. At some point you are going to want to stray away from the path to create your own. Make this a priority sooner than later and you will over time some nice growth for your online business.

I love a good promotion. The Twitter ones are brilliantly simple. “Win a prize, simply follow us and RT to enter” – exponential follower growth ahoy!
